In March, we took an exciting first step for our kennel with the adoption of Jórunn, a beautiful Northern Inuit girl from Na’heestah’s Swiss Northern Inuits. Jórunn does not only represent the foundation of our breeding program but also the beginning of a dream. We’ve waited for her for two years, and learned a lot about breeding from following her litter’s process closely. We attended her parents’ mating, her birth, visited her every week while she was growing up, and learned a lot from her breeder about genetics, stud selection, biology, puppy care and the intricate politics of the breeding world.
Jórunn is settling in wonderfully, adapting quickly to her new home and bonding with us in a way that feels so natural and reassuring. Though the teenage years won’t be easy, every day with her reminds us why we began this journey—to bring forward a breed that embodies both the elegance of the wolf and the approachability of a family dog. Jórunn’s arrival marks a thrilling beginning, and we look forward to building our kennel’s legacy with her at its heart.
